Old Glory Insurance

This Saturday Night Live commercial parody made fun of scaremongering insurance tactics by presenting a new threat to senior citizens that needed coverage: robot attacks.

Sam Waterston made an appearance as a celebrity endorser of Old Glory Insurance Company, which offered a pie-chart graphic showing robot attacks as the number one killer of persons over 50 years old, eclipsing heart disease. The ad depicted lurching, bulky robots straight out of 1950's sci-fi movies walking into the bedroom of helpless, cowering elderly people and eating their medication.

Quotes

  • Waterston: Old Glory Insurance... for when the metal ones decide to come for you. And they will.
  • ...and when they grab you with those metal claws you can't break free, because they're made of metal, and robots are strong.
  • Disclaimer: WARNING: Persons denying the existence of robots may be robots themselves.
