Oliver Paipoonge, Ontario

The Municipality of Oliver Paipoonge is located directly west of the City of Thunder Bay, in the Province of Ontario. The Municipality was formed on January 1, 1997, with the amalgamation of the former Township of Oliver and Municipality of Paipoonge. It contains three vilages, Kakabeka Falls, Murillo and Rosslyn. The remainder of the municipality is agricultural or rural. Agriculture is the primary industry carried out within the municipality, with tourism, focused around Kakabeka Falls, being second. Forest products manufacturing is third, with facilities located in Rosslyn and Murillo. Many residents of the municipality commute ot jobs in Thunder Bay or work in the woodlands in the surrounding region.
Each year Kakabeka Falls hosts a Street Fair, Murillo host the Murillo Fall Fair and the Slate River area host the Slate River Ploughing Match
There are two museums in the municipality: the Paipoonge Museum in Rosslyn and the Pioneer Museum in the Slate River Valley.
The mayor of Oliver Paipoonge is Lucia Kloosterhuis .
