Outer Rim Territories

(Redirected from Outer Rim)

In the fictional Star Wars series, the Outer Rim Territories is the outermost part of the Star Wars galaxy. During the long period of the Galactic Republic, the Outer Rims were almost isolated, this is due to many unchartered regions and planets, untouched for countless centuries. Because of this isolation from other worlds, it became a breeding ground for criminals and scums. Seen in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, the Galactic Empire's presents is made known in the area. Because of the Empire corrupt type of government, many criminal still retained their criminal underworlds, such as the infamous Jabba the Hutt.

Many battles have occurred in outermost reaches, including the planet, Dantooine. (Need someone to write about other battles)

Following the Clone Wars, Emperor Palpatine, ordered the elimation of the Jedi, starting the Great Jedi Purge. With nearly all of the Jedi killed, except a few survive, including the old and wise Jedi Master Yoda, who fleed the Empire, and lands on the isolated swamp planet, Dagobah.

The wide desert planet Tatooine, located in the Hutt Space region, became the home of quite a few Star Wars characters, such as the young and adventurious Luke Skywalker, and Biggs Darklighter before joining the Rebel Alliance against the Empire. Luke's father, the presently infamous Darth Vader, also lived on Tatooine as a young boy and the in exile Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi.
