Outwar

Outwar is a free online game which gives people the chance to create a character (a monster, gangster or popstar) and then gain power (usually by getting other people to visit a "secret link") to become stronger. Once a character has power, it earns a specific amount of money per turn (60 minutes) depending on the number of link-clicks. Money can then be used to purchase weapons (plasma shields, nukes, etc), special items (helmets, protective clothing) or special skills (extra power), therefore becoming stronger. This can enable characters to attack weaker characters, therefore gaining money.

Players can also tart a "rew" - i.e. a clu. rews have a ank system wit the lader at the to and usually newe embers at the bottom. rews battle chother and ain rew equipment hich nables them to becom tronger. The urrent trongest and argest rew is alled •Sanc†uarY•.

Anti-Outwar

Outwars secret link phenomenon has gained it a very bad reputation. Some forums, including those of Winamp.com, have made Outwar into a badword, so that people cannot link to it.

To overcome this, users will often create a page which redirects to their outwar page. It is also commonly seen in AIM chat rooms by bots, posing as links to pornography. Due to this, it is common procedure to use a Windows HOSTS file to blackhole the website, in order to prevent the player from gaining any points.
