P. D. Eastman
Philip Dey Eastman (25 November 1909 - 1986) was an American author and illustrator most famous for his children's books under the Dr. Seuss brand Beginner Books .
A protegé of Theodor Geisel, better known as (Dr. Seuss), Eastman had his own distinctive style and recurring characters, culminating in three extremely popular books: Go Dog, Go!, The Best Nest, Are You My Mother?.
He also did a stint as a Disney illustrator, and worked on the "Private Snafu" WWII training films , wrote for the animation Mr. Magoo, and created the Gerald McBoing-Boing series for UPA.
He was also the father of Tony Eastman , director of videotape adaptations of Richard Scarry's children's books.
