Paddy Power (politician)

Patrick (Paddy) Power is a former Irish Fianna Fáil TD and Minister of the Haughey era. He served as Minister for Fisheries & Forestry from 1979 to June 1981 and Minister for Defence in the Government of March to December 1982. He was briefly Minister for Trade, Commerce & Tourism in October 1982 following the resignation of Des O'Malley to challenge for the leadership of the party. Paddy Power retired from politics in 1989. His son, Seán Power, regained his Dáil seat. He is currently a Minister of State.
