Papal conclave, 1963
The conclave of 1963 was held in June 19-21, in Vatican City. John XXIII died on June 3, in the middle of the Vatican Council II. Among the favourite papabili was Giovanni Battista Montini, archbishop of Milan, and he was elected after 6 ballots. He choose Paul VI as his papal name.
