Patricia "Patty" Halliwell is the mother of the Charmed Ones (Prue, Piper, Phoebe, and Paige). She is played by actress Finola Hughes.

Patty is the daughter of Allen Halliwell and Penelope Johnson. She is a descendant of Melinda Warren, and was born with the power of temporal stasis.

Patty was taught by her mother the art of magic.

Patty had married the mortal Victor Bennet, and gave birth to Prue, Piper, and Phoebe. When Victor learned that she was a witch, and that their children are also witches, he could not cope with that and left for several months.

During the separation, Patty was forced to give immunity to the warlock Nicholas in exchange for the lives of her daughters. Patty and Grams' had no choice but bind the girls' powers.

Also during the separation, Patty fell in love with her whitelighter, Sam Wilder. During their union, she had gave birth to a baby girl, Paige. Since witches and Whitelighters are not allowed to be involved, this fact had to be kept secret from the Elders. Therefore, to protect her youngest daughter from both sides of magic, she gave the baby up to a church.

Patty and Victor later divorced.

During an attempt to vanquish a Water Demon in a summer camp's lake, Patty was distracted by an overprotective Sam. She was forced to freeze him, but the Demon used to opportunity to drown her. Years later, her idea of using a combination of electricity and temporal stasis to vanquish the demon was carried out by Piper and Pru.

Patty became a spirit, as she was allowed to take coporeal form to attend the wedding of Piper and Leo Wyatt, as an apology for the Elders of putting Piper through so much agony.

After Prue's funeral, Patty had told Piper and Phoebe about their fourth sister, Paige Matthews.

Patty was summoned by Grams in order to choose sides between Victor and herself over whether or not Leo would be a danger to the girls.
