Paulette Bourgeois

Paulette Bourgeois (July 20, 1951) is a Canadian children's writer and creator of the children's literary character, Franklin the Turtle.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1974 with a B.Sc.

Her first book was Franklin in the Dark, published in 1986. She has written over 26 Franklin books.

She is married to Ian Urquhart and has two children, Natalie and Gordon and lives in Toronto, Ontario.

In 2003 she was made a Companion of the Order of Canada.
