Pete Newell
Peter F. "Pete" Newell (born August 3, 1915 in Vancouver, British Columbia) is former college men's basketball coach. He is well-known for his 15 years of collegiate coaching at University of San Francisco (1946-50), Michigan State University (1950-54) and University of California at Berkeley (1954-60), compiling a 234-123 record overall. He guided Cal-Berkley to the NCAA championship in 1959. Newell later served as General Manager for several NBA teams.
