Peter Folger

Peter Folger (1905-1980) was the great-grandson of J.A. Folger , the founder of the Folger Coffee Company in San Francisco, California. Born in and raised mostly in California, he studied and graduated from Yale University and later served in World War II as a Marine Major. Peter is also the father of famed coffee heiress Abigail Folger who was a victim of the Charles Manson murders. Peter was the long time Chairman of the board and President at Folgers Coffee.

He married twice in his life. The first being to Inez Mejia, the daughter of a prestigious California land grant family. Together they had one child, Abigail Anne Folger, born in 1943. In 1952 Peter and Inez were divorced after his wife filed for an end to their marriage under the grounds of extreme cruelty. In 1960 Folger married his 34 year old private secretary Beverly. Peter died at the age of 75 in 1980 and was buried in the Folger family plot in California.
