Peter J. Peters

Note: In keeping with the belief among Churches of Christ that religious titles and denominations are sinful, Peters rejects the use of the term "Christian Identity" in describing his ministry. His racial doctrines are rejected by almost all mainline Churches of Christ.

Peter John Peters is pastor of the LaPorte Church of Christ in Laporte, Colorado. Peters achieved national notoriety in the 1980s when it became known that several members of The Order, a white-supremacist terrorist group, had attended Peters's church. Through a mail-order tape ministry, "Scriptures for America," as well as shortwave and Internet broadcasts, Peters has established himself as one of the foremost proponents of Christian Identity beliefs. He advocates a return to "Biblical law," which includes the death penalty for homosexuality and adultery, and preaches that modern-day Jews are "sons of the devil" conspiring to destroy the true Israel, which consists of the "Anglo-Saxon, Germanic, Scandanavian, Celtic, and kindred peoples." His radio show, "Scriptures For America", is carried on shortwave station WWCR .

Peters received a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business and worked briefly as an FHA loan officer before attending a small bible college. He began preaching his "Israel truth" message from his pulpit in LaPorte in 1984. He owns a ranch in Wyoming.
