Philles Records
Philles Records was formed in 1961 by Phil Spector and Lester Still . The name of the label is based on the first letters of their first names. In 1962 Phil Spector purchased Lester Still's stocks and became sole owner. Thus, at 21 years of age, Phil Spector became America's youngest label chief. The label topped the charts in 1965 with "You've Lost That Loving Feeling " by The Righteous Brothers, who came from the small Moonglow Records.
The label ceased operations in 1967 and Phil Spector did not return for another 2 years to production work.
Artists on Philles include The Crystals, Darlene Love, Bob B Soxx , The Ronettes, The Righteous Brothers and Ike and Tina Turner.
