Pillow fight

A pillow fight is a common game mostly played by young children in which they attack each other with pillows. Since pillows are soft this rarely causes injury. The heft of a pillow can still knock a young person off balance, especially on a soft surface such as a bed, which is a common venue. In earlier eras pillows would often break, shedding feathers throughout a room. Modern pillows tend to be stronger and filled with a solid block of artificial filling, so this no longer occurs.

The 1978 film Animal House, starring John Belushi, features a pillow fight in one scene.

In 2005 students in Groningen set a record for the world's largest pillow fight with 2997 participants, observed by Guinness Records officials.
