Pimm's is a maker of alcoholic beverage. Its main drink is "Pimm's N°1", being the most commonly sold nowadays. it is served both on ice or in cocktails. Pimm's N°1, is one of 5 "Pimm's" recipes, and the basic difference among these is the base alcohol used to produce them: N°1 is based on Gin, N°2 Whiskey, N°3 Brandy, N°4 Rum, N°5 Rye and N°6 Vodka. This drink has a dark tea colour, with a reddish tint, tasting subtly of spice and citrus fruit. Pimm's N°2 to Pimm's N°6 are quite difficult to find.

History

The first version of this drink was created by James Pimm, in his oyster bar in the 1820s, England, and was commercially marketed in 1859. Its popularity as a digestive has been due to the mix of herbs used to produce it and the fact that it uses quinine in its recipe. In the second half of the 19th century people saw the drink as sufficiently weak to be drunk during a long afternoon. In 2004 Pimms have introduced Pimms Winter Cup. It is Pimms No. 3 (The brandy variant) with added spices and orange peel.

Pimm's N°1 is the traditional ingredient in a Pimm's Cup cocktail, which mixes one part Pimm's N°1 with two parts lemon soda (sometimes ginger ale), ice cubes, and a wedge of cucumber.
