Play UK, formerly known as UK Play was part of the UKTV Network. The British television channel was launched (as UK Play) in October 1998 . The channel is aimed at playing (for most of the time) music in the morning and afternoon while broadcasting comedy in the evening.

Comedy Programming

Most of the comedy programming on Play UK had already been broadcasted on the BBC's channels. Play UK also produced original comedy programming as well as those already broacasted on the BBC's channels. Later on, Play UK also broadcasted American comedy and animation.

Play UK Closure

Play UK was closed on the 30th September 2002 due to low ratings because of the closure of ITV Digital in May 2002. Play UK's comedy programming was then moved to UK Gold (now UKTV Gold).
