Ponyboy Michael Curtis is the main character of S.E. Hinton's The Outsiders. Ponyboy is 14 years old, and he has two older brothers, Soda and Darry. Ponyboy's parents have died, and it is Darry who cares for his two younger brothers. Pony and his 2 brothers were orphans after their parents were killed in a car crash. He is in a gang called the greasers where he and his buddies get jumped by the Socs and get kicked around.

Ponyboy has red almost grey hair and has greenish grey eyes. Johnny his friend killed the Soc Bob to save Ponyboy. After Bob died, they ran away and hid in a abandoned church with Dally's (a greaser) help.

Pony admitted to killing Bob at their hearing but all of the Socs agreed that it was Johnny who did it, and Johnny was dead.

He never truly believed that Johnny was dead until Dally died and he read the note that Johnny left him in his copy of Gone With the Wind.
