Pope Lando

His Holiness Pope Lando was elected pope in either July or August of 913, and died about 6 months later in either February or March of 914. He was born in Sabina, Italy. His father was reportedly named "Taino". An unusual name that should not be confused with the Taíno peoples of the Greater Antilles.

Lando is thought he had powerful friends who helped him get elected Pope. Little more is known about him, but he is possibly the last pope to use his given name during his reign. He is also the last pope until Pope John Paul I to use a name that was not previously used.
