Postmillennialism

Postmillennialism is a version of Christian eschatology. The different versions of eschatology are named after where adherents believe Christ returns in relation to the millennium prophesied in Revelation. Postmillennialists believe that Jesus will return after the millennium, which in this instance is generally interpreted to be a period of 1,000 years. However, many Postmillennialists do not hold to a literal millenium.

Postmillenialists believe that the church is on earth to fight a battle against evil forces in the world. In the United States, the major oranizational forms of postmillennialism are based on Dominion Theology, a theocratic form of Dominionism. A theonomic and doctrinaire version of postmillennialism is Christian Reconstructionism.

The other major variants of Christian End Times belief are Premillennialism, Preterism, and Amillennialism.
