Power Rangers: In Space

(Redirected from Power Rangers in Space)

Power Rangers in Space is a television show, the sixth generation of Power Rangers.

It was loosely based on, and involved footage from, the Japanese television show Denji Sentai Mega Ranger (or Electromagnetic Task Force MegaRanger), the twenty-first Super Sentai series.

When the Power Rangers: Turbo have their Power Chamber destroyed by Divatox, they leave for space, in search of their old mentor, Zordon. They come across the new Red Ranger, Andros, who gives them all new Morphers, allowing them to transform into new Rangers. With the aid of new allies and old, such as the Silver Ranger Zhane and the Phantom Ranger, they face the monstrous Dark Specter and his princess of evil, Astronema.

Power Rangers: In Space represents the largest turning point in the Power Rangers series. The series up to and including Power Rangers in Space are all part of a single story arc. Characters are replaced often on an individual basis, and several characters - including Zordon, the robots Alpha 5 and Alpha 6, as well as many of the villains - remain throughout several series. The final episode of the series, Countdown to Destruction, is considered one of the greatest episodes in Power Rangers history. After the finale, new series introduce new characters and situations, although except for Power Rangers: Ninja Storm, the eleventh series, cross-over episodes regularly occurred to bring back former favourite characters. Also, the Red Battlizer Armor is the first piece of Power Ranger weaponry that was not part of the original Sentai series, which has become a yearly tradition in later series.

The series is also highly regarded for being the first Power Rangers series to feature identifiable villains - Astronema is actually Andros' sister, Karone , who was kidnapped by the cruel Darkonda as a child, and in the final episode is redeemed. In the following series, Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy, she returns to replace Kendrix as the Pink Ranger.
