Province of L'Aquila

Aquila (It. Provincia dell'Aquila) is a province in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Its capital is the city of L'Aquila.
It has an area of 5,034 sq km, and a total population of 297,424 (2001). Notable communes include Avezzano , Celano , Roccaraso , and Sulmona ; there are 108 communes in all (source: Italian institute of statistics (Istat), see this link).
