Province of Ascoli Piceno
Ascoli Piceno (It. Provincia di Ascoli Piceno) is a province in the Marche region of Italy. Its capital is the city of Ascoli Piceno.
It has an area of 2,088 sq km, and a total population of 369,371 (2001). There are 73 communes in the province (source: Italian institute of statistics Istat, see this link).
The new province of Fermo is being created from part of the province of Ascoli Piceno. The new province (capital Fermo ) will contain 860 sq km, 40 communes and approx. 170,000 inhabitants.
