Province of Messina
Messina (It. Provincia di Messina) is a province in the autonomous island region of Sicily in Italy. Its capital is the city of Messina.
It has an area of 3,247 sq km, and a total population of 662,450 (2001). There are 108 communes in the province (source: Italian institute of statistics Istat, see this link).
Besides the capital Messina, other cities and places of interest in the province include Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, Milazzo, the Aeolian Islands (Lipari), Tindari, Taormina and Capo d'Orlando .
