Punter
The word punter, when used alone, has several possible meanings in the English language:
- For someone who uses a pole to operate a boat, see Punt (boat).
- For an American football kicker, see Punt (football).
- One who hires and sells out prostitution, see Punter (prostitution).
- For someone who gambles, especially on horse races, see gambling. This is a chiefly British and Australian colloquial term.
- The Punters, a traditional Irish music group
- For a player in the game baccarat, see baccarat.
- It is also a colloquial term in the United Kingdom for the customer of any business.
