Putnam Division
The Putnam Division was originally part of the New York Central Railroad as an extension so to speak of the Harlem Division. The division was a single-track line which served Central Westchester and many parts of Putnam County which today are not served by rail. The line ran between the current day Harlem and Hudson Lines.
One problem with the Putnam Division was that for passenger service, passengers required a transfer in the lower Bronx to continue on to Grand Central Terminal. The last passenger service along the division was in 1958. The lines last freight movement was in 1970. Since then, much of the divisions' tracks have been converted into a bike path, especially the part paralleling Route 100.
Many of the lines' stations are still preserved as land marks. The station house in Millwood, NY is currently abandoned, and it stands next to the bike path that once held the Division's tracks. In Briarcliff Manor, the old train house is now a library.

A small spur which connected Baldwin Place to Golden's Bridge along the Harlem Division also existed. The only extra station on this spur was in Lincolndale. The term "around the horn" meant a train that travelled along that spur from Golden's Bridge to Baldwin Place, then travelled along the remainder of the Putnam Division back to the Harlem Division's Brewster Station.
At Brewster, the Putnam Division met the Harlem Line, which at the time continued north to Chatham.
