Quebec Semi-Pro Hockey League
The Quebec Semi-Pro League is known as a "fighting league.", primarily for the fact that teams employ former junior hockey enforcers and other players trying to make a name out for themselves by ways of fighting and cheapshots. This brings down the level of play in this league, with several fights occuring in a period at some games. There has been some talk to clean the league up, but no formal proposal to do so has been put forward.
The Quebec Semi-Pro league was renamed the Ligue nord-amêricaine de hockey in 2004, prior to the 2004-2005 season.
