Registeel is a legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire made completely out of steel with no brain. Modern scientists are confused about how it is animated, since there is nothing in its body that would make it move or think. The ancient people who made Registeel sealed it away because it was too powerful. It has high special defense and defense, although less than the other two Regis, and is generally preferred to either Regirock, who specializes in high defense, and Regice, who specializes in special defense, when one does not know what kind of attacks the opponent will use. Its weakness to fire, fighting and ground types discourage users from using Registeel in battle with real people, but against the CPU, Registeel is very effective. A team of Registeel, Regice and Regirock, if used correctly, is very effective in Battle Tower.

Name Origin

Regi means "royal," so Registeel would mean "Steel King."

Availability

You can only obtain Regsteel in Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire when you unlock the secret cave of the Regis. To do this you must bring a Relicanth and Wailord to the cave. Place Relicanth as your first Pokémon and Wailord as your last. Then talk to the braille in the back of the room, which says:

  • IN THIS CAVE WE HAVE LIVED.
  • WE OWE ALL TO THE POKEMON.
  • BUT, WE SEALED THE POKEMON AWAY.
  • WE FEARED IT.
  • THOSE WITH COURAGE, THOSE WITH HOPE.
  • OPEN A DOOR.
  • AN ETERNAL POKEMON WAITS.

When you get to the Registeel cave, go to the center and use Fly. The door should open.
