Richard Cardinal Cushing
Richard Cardinal Cushing (24 August 1895–2 November 1970) (Richard James Cushing) was ordained a bishop in 1939 and went on to become Archbishop of the Boston Archdiocese in 1944. He has been recognised as one of the most significant Boston Irish-Americans of the 20th century.
Cardinal Cushing, a friend of the Kennedys, gave the prayer innvocation at John F. Kennedy's inauguration in 1960. He also presided over President Kennedy's funeral mass in 1963.
