Rights issue
In equities, a rights issue can be made when a company wants to issue new shares. The company gives existing shareholders the right to purchase new shares in proportion to their existing holding, so as to avoid dilution. Shares are usually offered at a discount, and most investors take up the offer of a rights issue.
