Ringbearer
- This article concerns the attendant at a wedding. For the character in the Tolkien novel, see Ring-bearer.
In a formal wedding or a white wedding, a ringbearer is a special page, almost always a young boy, who carries the wedding rings for the bridal party.
This is almost always symbolic, with the ringbearer carrying a large white satin pillow on which imitation rings are sewn, the real wedding bands being in the safekeeping of the best man. If the real rings are used, they are tacked on with thread.
Because of the unpredictability of very small children, it is almost always advised that child attendants be older than three years of age.
