Riparian Plaza

Riparian Plaza is a skyscaper currently under construction in the central business district of Brisbane. At 200 metres in height, it is the city's tallest building, and will be so until the completion of the Aurora Tower. It is a mixed use building, with 11 carpark levels from the ground up, then 25 commercial levels, and then 12 residential levels, which will house 50 penthouse apartments. A recreation centre including a swimming pool will be located on 39th floor, between the commercial and residential sections. The car park will be accessed via a helical annexe.

The total cost of the project was A$100 million. There have been significant delays in completion of the project. It was originally scheduled to be completed by early 2004 (giving a record construction time of 100 weeks), however as of March 2005 it is still under construction. This delay has led to significant criticism of the project in the local media, as well as numerous complaints from prospective tenants of the building, leading to it remaining 60% unlet as of February 2005.
