Risø
Risø National Laboratory is a scientific research organization in Frederiksborgvej , Roskilde, Denmark.
"The mission of Risø is to promote innovative and environmentally benign technological developments within energy, industrial technology, and bioproduction by means of research, innovation, and advisory services" (from the webpage).
Risø was founded in 1956, but not officially inaugurated until 1958. The organization employs over 700 staff as of 2004; the area of the grounds is over 2.6 square kilometres. The current chairman is Jørgen Mads Clausen .
Risø is the site of DR-3, a DIDO class nuclear reactor used for research purposes. The reactor is shut down and undergoing decommissioning.
Risø is particularly noted for its involvement in wind energy.
