Roberto Tirado

Roberto Tirado was a popular singer/musician from Puerto Rico during the 1980s. He was born in Rincon, Puerto Rico and raised in New York City.

Roberto began his musical career at an early age. The Community Service Society of NYC recognized his talent at a school talent singing show and assisted his poor family with money and after school activities...He then engaged himself to the Brill Building stable of musicians by becoming their go -fer and coffee boy. He was introduced to record producer Producer Phil Spector and came to know him well, so much so that he became known as Phil Spector's pet. He then became friendly with the Ronettes and their entourage.

Tirado later became a vocalist in his own right and befriended Latin singer Lucecita Benitez for which he dedicated his first release on Lando records to. He became a hot item in the latin night club circuit but slowly left the music scene to care for his ailing parents Maria & David Tirado. He is one of 7 brothers and he also has a sister.

Today, Roberto works as a health professional. He still occasionally performs music, however. His voice is said to remain as romantic and clear as his younger days. He recently had an evening performance at the old Sweetwater's in Manhattan where he opened for the Main Ingredient at the time but the main attraction was said to be Roberto with what critics called his witty and fascinating performance. Roberto currently lives in New York City as decidedly private as Greta Garbo.
