Rocky Boys Indian Reservation
Rocky Boys Indian Reservation was created in 1916 and is the home of the Chippewa-Cree tribe. Located in northern Montana about 40 miles from the Canadian border, Rocky Boys is the smallest of the reservations in the state. Rocky Boys' unusual name came about from a white mistranslation of the name of a tribal leader, whose name meant something akin to Stony Child.
