Ronnie Dobbs

Ronnie Dobbs is a fictional drunken petty criminal regularly featured on Fuzz, a COPS-like program, during HBO's sketch comedy series, Mr. Show with Bob and David, which aired from 1995 to 1998. He is also the subject of the biographical film, Run Ronnie Run! , which was developed due to his massive popularity amongst fans of Mr. Show. He is portrayed in both the series and film by David Cross.

Ronnie was an alcoholic spokesperson for the National Entitilitus Foundation . He appeared in a PSA admitting that he was dying of the disease that had no known cause, cure, or even a basic understanding of what it was. He was unable to keep out of trouble and demonstrated a natural talent for attracting the attention of whatever local police force had jurisdiction over him. As his arrests mounted, so did his notoriety. He became the most arrested person in Fuzz history, often brought down after domestic squabbles with various long suffering women. Then he met Terry Twillstein , (Bob Odenkirk) a cameraman for Fuzz and failed infomercial director who became fascinated by Dobbs after he noticed that he was getting arrested in every city the show filmed in. This led to a strong bond where Twillstein promised to make Ronnie a reality t.v. star. A deal was struck with the producers of Fuzz, who agreed to create a show in which Ronnie would get arrested in every state of the Union.

Ronnie's celebrity changed him after he moved to Beverly Hills and began adhering to a "clean" lifestyle, eschewing massive alcohol abuse and domestic violence. He was considered such an upstanding citizen (influenced by his Unpop celebrity status) that he found himself unable to be arrested.

Ronnie proved to be a sensitive and engaging singer while in the studio with Mr. Twillstein recording the music for Fuzz: The musical. His performance on "Y'all are brutalizin' me" (lyrics) belied his reputation for random antisocial outbursts.
