Royal College of Science and Technology
A predecesor organization of The University of Strathclyde, in Glasgow, Scotland, UK.It was merged with Scottish College of Commerce to form the University in 1964. Formed in 1887 from the amalgamation of Anderson's College, the College of Science and Arts, Allan Glen's Institution, the Young Chair of Technical Chemistry and Atkinson's Institution as Glasgow and West of Scotland Technical College. In 1912 it changed its name to Royal Technical College, after a permission was granted by King George V. It onced again changed its name in 1956 to Royal College of Science and Technology.
The Royal College Building on George Street is currently occupied by Strathclyde University and houses following academic departments:
- Department of Bioscience, Faculty of Science - Department of Chemistry, Pure and Applied, Faculty of Science - Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering - Technology and Business Studies, Strathclyde Business School and - Centre for Electrical Power Engineering
