Royal School of Mines
The Royal School of Mines in London was formed in 1863 after previously being known as Government School of Mines and Science Applied to the Arts which had been established in 1851. In 1907, RSM was merged with Imperial College but RSM remains a Consituent College. The current Dean of the Royal School of Mines is Professor John Monhemius.
Notable past students of the school include:
- William Thomas Blanford, English geologist who did major work in India
- George Mercer Dawson, first director of the Geological Survey of Canada
- Julius Vogel, Prime Minister of New Zealand
