Rozalia Galiyeva

Rozalia Galiyeva is a Russian gymnast who competed in the 1992 Summer Olympics and 1996 Summer Olympics.

The youngest member of the Unified Team in Barcelona, Roza Galieva finished 8th in the Individual All-Around qualifying competition behind teammates Svetlana Boguinskaya and Tatiana Lysenko among others. She finished one spot ahead of Tatiana Gutsu, the reigning European All-Around Champion and World Vault and Bars Titleholder. Coach Alexander Alexandrov removed Galieva from the All-Around final citing a knee injury later proven nonexistent. Gutsu won the All-Around title and split her prize money with Galieva.

Similar substitutions were made by Romania at the Olympic Games in 1996 and the World Championships in 1997; both times replacing a higher performing Alexandra Marinescu for Simona Amanar.

Galieva competed for Uzbekistan until 1995 when she successfully applied for Russian citizenship. Her first major competition for Russia was the European Championships where she won gold on balance beam. As captain of the Russian Olympic Team in 1996, she led her squad to a silver medal. Individually, she finished in the top 10 in the All-Around competition.
