Ryoko Subaru

In the anime Martian Successor Nadesico, Ryoko Subaru is the hotheaded and fiery pilot of the Red Zero-G frame Aestivalis and leader of the Aesti-squad for the Nadesico. Tough and rather brash, she has little respect for people who can't prove themselves or don't do their absolute best, she is the daughter of a scram-jet fighter so she really hasn't had a 'normal' childhood.

Her hair color is green at the beginning of the show, but it turns out she dye's it. Her real color is blue. She doesn't consider herself to be attractive, despite her healthy athletic physique.

She has a soft-spot for Akito Tenkawa, ships cook and reluctant Aestivalis pilot. (Just like half the girls on the ship) But she doesn't go after him due to her own pride. She thinks Akito is strong but doesn't want to be put in the same category as Yurika and Megumi who chase him to excess.

She is emotionally unsure about herself and doesn't think she had any other talents aside from piloting and killing.

A good person in general. She respects the captain, but calls her 'Pretty Girl' before finding out Yurika is the captain. She is constantly annoyed by her two pilot friends-Izumi and Hikaru-who tease her about having a crush on Akito.
