Salman Khan

Salman Khan (born December 27, 1965) is a Bollywood movie star. He rose to fame with the hit film Maine Pyar Kiya and followed up with megahits Andaz Apna Apna, Hum Aapke Hain Koun , and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

Salman was born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, into a family with strong ties to the film industry. His father Salim Khan is a successful screenplay writer. One of Salim Khan's wives (he has two) is the famous dancer Helen. Salman's brothers Sohail Khan and Arbaaz Khan are also actors, if not as successful as Salman. Salman has has two younger sisters, one married to actor Atul Agnihotri .

Salman has been in the news of late for his romantic misadventures (a rocky romance with actress Aishwarya Rai, now ended) and a recent arrest for drunk driving and vehicular homicide. He lost control of his car and killed three people who had been sleeping on a Mumbai sidewalk.

None of Salman's latest films has been as successful as his earlier hits, but he is still considered one of the top actors in Bollywood. People still say that the industry is ruled by the so-called "three Khans" (Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan, and Salman Khan).

He always appears in films wearing a bracelet with a turquoise stone; his father wears a similar "lucky" bracelet.
