Sam Fisher

Sam Fisher is the main character in the Splinter Cell series of games and novels created by author Tom Clancy. Throughout the series Fisher is voiced by actor Michael Ironside.

Bio

A veteran of the U.S. Navy SEALs and the CIA, he is recruited by Third Echelon, a secretive division of the National Security Agency. Despite being in his upper forties, Fisher is very agile and an expert in the art of stealth. Fisher was Third Echelon's first field agent, known as a "Splinter Cell".

His 'handler' is Irving Lambert (voiced in the second game by actor Dennis Haysbert), who coordinates intelligence and objective information with Fisher. He is assisted throughout his missions by NSA employees Anna Grimsdottir and Vernon Wilkes Jr (later replaced by Coen), who provide technical advisory and field transportation respectively.

While very little is known about his past, throughout the course of the first game he travels widely, his missions taking him to Georgia, Azerbaijan, Myanmar, and Russia. The second game takes place largely in Indonesia and its surrounds, though he also travels to France, Israel, and Los Angeles in the US. Locations in the third game include Korea and Japan, among other locales.

Fisher was previously married to Regan Burns who passed away due to ovarian cancer. He had one child, Sarah, who is currently attending college in Illinois.

Fisher resides in a townhouse in Towson, Maryland when not on the job.
