Sampaloc, Manila

Sampaloc district is a lively, middle-class, residential area in Manila City. The University of Santo Tomas, the famous Dangwa flower market at Dimasalang Street, and the popular affordable Windsor Inn at Maceda Street near 7-11 store of Dimasalang Street is a rare classic architecture style building... all are located here. The Dangwa flower market is famous for selling cut flowers from all over the Philippinesand is open 24 hours a day. Also walking distance from Windsor Inn at Maceda Street near Retiro Street are the country's most famous "lechon" or roasted pig restaurants. Sampaloc is a historic district of Manila, which was also the site of the outbreak of hostilities between American colonial troops versus Philippine revolutionaries in the turn of the 20th century. The Maceda Street of Windsor Inn was formerly known as Washington Street, named after USA President George Washington. Today, Maceda Street near Dimasalang Street 7-11 store was named after a powerful politician's surname. The Maceda family apparently lives here.
