Samuel Bourne
Samuel Bourne (1834–1912) was a British photographer known for his work in India. He was born in Market Drayton, and lived in Nottingham.
From 1862 to 1869 Bourne lived and worked in India, with his printer Charles Shepherd. His photography ranges all over the country and into some of its remotest parts. His studio, Bourne & Shepherd, continues to operate in Kolkata. He is most well known for his photography of the Raj, and has become one of the most well-known photographers of India.
Samuel Bourne: Images of India by Arthur Ollmann is a profound book on Bourne and his photography.
