Sandy Cheeks

Sandy Cheeks is a fictional character in the Nickelodeon TV cartoon series, SpongeBob SquarePants. She is an athletic squirrel from the state of Texas who moved to Bikini Bottom and undersea life. However, she lives in an air-filled habitat structure (a plexiglas dome complete with its own tree and other land plants), and normally wears an air-filled diving outfit that looks much like an astronaut's suit. Her birthday is on April 4, 1975.

Sandy is a good friend of SpongeBob SquarePants and, physically, just about the strongest critter in the lagoon (along with Larry Lobster). Sandy is an avowed Texas partisan like most residents of that state. She has a decidedly southern accent and will take offense at any negative comment about Texas (or land critters)—Sandy is somewhat sensitive about her minority status as an air-breathing land creature (the only other air-breathing animals seen underwater are whales).

There is much controversy over the future exsistence of Sandy in future episodes of Spongebob Squarepants. There are rumors that her voice actor Carolyn Lawrence quit the show during it's long 3 year hiatus and the shows writers created an episode to permenantly remove her from the show. This evidence was backed with these key reasons.

  • Sandy was not in the new episode trailers.
  • Sandy only had two lines in the Spongebob Squarepants Movie
  • A supposed interview with the shows new executive producer, Derek Drymon.
  • Sandy made very few appearances in the 3rd Season alone.

Sandy has a generally upbeat and positive attitude, but can be fierce when angered. It is clear that SpongeBob is sweet on Sandy, and that SpongeBob has a crush on her.
