The Santa Ana Mountains are short peninsular mountain range along the coast of southern California in the United States. They extend for approximately 35 mi (56 km) southeast of the Los Angeles Basin largely along the border between Orange and western Riverside counties. The range is roughly bounded on the north by the Santa Ana River and on the south by the Santa Margarita River. The highest point in the range is Santiago Peak (elevation 5,687 ft/1,733 m, also known as Saddleback Peak or Saddleback Mountain ), located approximately 20 mi (32 km) east of Santa Ana. Most of range is within the Cleveland National Forest.
