Saskia van Uylenburg

Saskia van Uylenburg (1612 - June 14, 1642) was the wife of Rembrandt van Rijn.

Van Uylenburg married Rembrandt on June 22, 1634; she was the niece of an art dealer, Hendrick van Uylenburgh , who did business with van Rijn. As the daughter of a wealthy patrician, Rombert Ulenburg , Saskia introduced the notable painter to higher Dutch social circles. She was the model for many of his paintings and drawings.

In 1639, Saskia and Rembrandt moved to a prominent house in the Jodenbreestraat in the Jewish quarter, which later became the Rembrandt House Museum . Three of their children died shortly after birth. In 1641, they had a fourth child, a son, whom they called Titus, who was baptised on September 22, 1641. Saskia died soon after from tuberculosis. Rembrandt sold her grave on October 27, 1662.

Titus married Magdalena van Loo on February 28, 1668. On September 7, he was buried in the Westerkerk in Amsterdam. His daughter was baptised on March 22, 1669.
