Schlenkerla
Name of a historical brewery-tavern in Bamberg. It is most renowned for its Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier, a beer with smokey aroma. Inside the half-timbered building, there is the "Dominikanerklause" with an impressive gothic ceiling.
The name Schlenkerla derives from a former owner, which allegedly had a funny way of walking due to an accident. This "dangling" is called "schlenker" in German and the ending "la" is typical for the franconian dialect. The expression was later on transferred from the owner to the pub itself and remains to this day.
