Scouse (food)
Scouse was orignally a mutton stew. The name is a shortened form of lobscouse. A name probably derived from the north German sailor's dish Labscaus . It gives its name to the inhabitants of Liverpool.
Today it is still a popular dish in Liverpool and is a staple of local pub and cafe menus.
