Schythia Minor was in ancient times the region sorrounded by Danube at north and west and the Black Sea at east, corresponding to today's Dobruja (a part in Romania and a smaller part in Bulgaria).

History

Scythia Minor was inhabited initally by Dacians and Celts and later invaded by Scythians. By the 7th century bc , several Greek colonies were built on its Black Sea shore. The region was conquered by the Roman Empire (becoming part of the Moesia province, then of the Diocese of Thracia), then passed to the Byzantine Empire, but it was lost during the Middle Ages to the migrating peoples.
