Sean Avery

Sean Avery (born April 10, 1980 in North York, Ontario, Canada) is a ice hockey player.

He grew up in North York, Ontario. As a small player – Avery is five feet nine inches tall and weighs in at a mere 185 pounds – he was not drafted, but he was signed by the Red Wings in 1999. Prior to playing with Detroit, Avery played for the Kingston Canadiens of the Ontario Hockey League.

For Avery, the 2002-2003 season marked the first trade of his young career. The center with a gritty playing style originally broke into the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings. The Red Wings dealt Avery to the Kings midway through the 2002-2003 season. That season, he saw action in 39 games with the Red Wings and 12 games with the Kings. Avery put up career numbers in the 2003-2004 season. He played 76 games for the Kings, in which he scored 9 goals and posted 19 assists for a point total of 28. Avery looks to have another career year this coming season.

Sean Avery plays with the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League (NHL). He has been playing with the Kings for two years, beginning in the 2002-2003 season. The 24-year-old looks to be a promising player, possibly even a future star in the league, but if nothing else a mainstay in the Kings line-up for years to come.
